ICT benefits in a Special Education Classroom.

As I begin to look at the benefits of ICT in the Special Education Classroom for Assignment 1, I came across an article through Education Queensland about Maryborough State School and their use of ICT’s. The Special Ed Classroom have been extremely innovative and creative in their use of ICT’s, by allowing students to work collaboratively to create weekly E-Newsletters. Now this has not only improved their literacy skills and academic engagement, but the Principal actually believes it has improved their social skills immensely as they are working with each other, giving feedback and engaging in information giving conversations. This is a wonderfully simple idea that has given these students purpose and ownership over their learning and their social interactions (which is vital for students with special needs).
